Intermountain Hospital Appoints Charles C. Novak, MD New Medical Director

Intermountain Hospital in Boise has appointed Charles C. Novak, MD as its new Medical Director. Dr. Novak replaces Dr. Harry D. Silsby who retired in March after serving as Medical Director since 2001.

Dr. Novak has held privileges at Intermountain since 1985 and has served as the adult psychiatric services Program Director during that time. He is President of Sage Health Care, a physician group whose offices are located adjacent to the Intermountain campus on Allumbaugh Street in Boise.

In his new position, Dr. Novak will oversee hospital-wide quality care including patient directed care through medical staff involvement, review hospital-specific quality monitoring, provide leadership to the medical staff, work closely with the hospital management team to enhance all patient services, and serve as a hospital representative to Intermountain's many partners in the community and state.

Dr. Novak earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota, completed his internship at Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, and served his residency at the University of Hawaii's Psychiatry Residency Program in Honolulu. Dr. Novak is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the Idaho Medical Association, and the Idaho Psychiatric Association.

Intermountain Hospital has provided psychiatric and substance abuse services to residents of Southwest Idaho since 1980. It is licensed by the State of Idaho, a Medicare/Medicaid approved provider, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and TRICARE approved.
