Outpatient Behavioral Healthcare for Teens

At Intermountain Hospital, adolescents and teens experiencing mental health concerns receive attentive, whole-person behavioral healthcare. Our providers understand the unique needs of this age group.

Child- and Family-Centered Care for Mental Health Conditions

Generations of parents have trusted Intermountain Hospital for behavioral healthcare. Our outpatient programs offer on-site and virtual treatment, depending on your child’s needs. Children ages 12 and older learn how to focus on their strengths, understand relationships and prepare for life’s journey beyond adolescence.

Care begins with a needs assessment and continues with personalized treatment that involves the family. Intermountain Hospital provides a positive, affirming environment where adolescents can receive treatment for:

  • Aggression, bullying and defiance
  • Anxiety, worry and fear
  • Bipolar disorder and mood instability
  • Depression, grief and loss
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Promiscuity and rule-breaking
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Substance use disorder (SUD)

What Is Outpatient Behavioral Healthcare?

Participants attend several hours of daytime treatment and go home each night. Depending on your child’s needs, they may attend a program for eight weeks or longer.

Outpatient care for children ages 12 and older includes:

  • Partial hospitalization program (PHP) In person at our outpatient clinic, five days per week
  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP): In person or virtual, three days per week (virtual option open to adolescents across the United States)
